16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

The Human RightS Initiative (HRSI), with the help of our dedicated student planning committee, is proud to announce the commencement of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence campaign. This 16 day period spans from November25th - International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women - to December 10th - International Human Rights Day - in order to symbolically link violence against women with human rights.

During the 16 Days campaign, HRSI is organizing several events and activities aimed at raising awareness about gender based violence as a human rights issue. Please find bellow our schedule, followed by a more detailed description of each event.

Monday, November 25th

 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

 12 - 2 PM, Laptop Area - Information Table about the campaign, upcoming events, distributing wristbands for 16 days campaign. Check out our post-secret box, Why do I Need Feminism Campaign, and Micro Aggressions box.

5:30 PM, Popper Room: Harm Reduction:Needle and Syringe Programs

There will be a presentation given by Peter Sarosi, HCLU drug policy program coordinator, together with a documentary screening: The City of Lost Children, Bucharest, 2013, (17 min) 

Tuesday, November 26th   

Gender and Homelessness Workshop

4 PM, Nador 11, TIGY Room

HaNEM (Homeless Women for Each Other Movement)members will hold a workshop about women's homelessness in Hungary. They will talk about women's situation who live in housing poverty and about the work of HaNEM (the presentations will be translated in English).
